Southampton, Southampton, United Kingdom Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Band 7 Nurse to become a vital part of our Hampshire CAMHS Eating Disorder Service. Our organization implements a comprehensive care model designed to address the unique needs of adolescents facing eating disorders. We provide a variety of evidence-based interventions that emphasize quality and innovation. This role offers opportunities for professional growth through collaboration with multidisciplinary team members, as well as access to continuing professional development, training, consultation, supervision, and nursing forums.

We are in search of a nurse who demonstrates a commitment to clinical leadership, possesses a positive demeanor, and exhibits exceptional interpersonal abilities. Our aim is to foster an environment where our staff can excel while working with this intricate patient demographic and their families, assured that they are supported by empathetic and encouraging colleagues.

As a senior nurse within our service, you will collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to provide safe and effective care within the West hub. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing their own caseload while also offering expert clinical guidance to peers and supporting the leadership team. This role necessitates a high level of proficiency in clinical evaluation, risk management, safeguarding, and coordination with external agencies. The position encompasses a blend of clinical and leadership responsibilities, ensuring a diverse and engaging work experience, both in-person and through virtual platforms.

Our commitment is to offer a fulfilling career rather than just a job, within a team and an organization dedicated to delivering exceptional care to the community while prioritizing the well-being of its staff.

Key Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the clinical hub, including case allocation.
  • Manage a clinical caseload, ensuring effective care planning, risk assessment, and management.
  • Provide line management and clinical supervision as necessary.
  • Conduct routine and initial assessments as required.
  • Collaborate and communicate with colleagues across the team, service, and relevant agencies to support the safe care of young individuals.
  • Assist the lead nurse in the execution and advancement of the nursing strategy within the team and service.
  • Confidently assess and manage physical health risks associated with eating disorders.
  • Contribute to quality enhancement initiatives across the team and the ongoing effort to elevate service delivery.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as identified, appropriate to the banding.

Experience in systemic approaches, crisis intervention, and physical assessment will be advantageous.

We welcome applications from practitioners who are highly motivated, enthusiastic, innovative, adaptable, and resourceful, with a strong passion for working collaboratively with children and young people experiencing eating disorders and their families.
