We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Scientist to join our Centre for Veterinary Vaccine Innovation and Manufacturing (CVIM). The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the development of veterinary vaccines using a range of technology platforms, including RNA as a cost-effective vaccine platform for application in livestock.
Main Responsibilities- Support R&D activities and projects conducted within CVIM.
- Assist in the development of new upstream and downstream processes suitable for the development and scale-up of new veterinary vaccines.
- Assess antigen production and quality assurance.
- Prepare reference antigens and perform serology assays using vaccinate sera.
- Implement good laboratory practice (GLP) to a compatible standard to that used during the development of commercial vaccines by major manufacturers.
- Contribute to work towards GMP accreditation.
- Participate in training necessary for CVIM activities.
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Scientist with a PhD or equivalent in a relevant branch of biosciences. The ideal candidate will have laboratory experience that encompasses a wide range of cell culture, molecular biology, and virology techniques. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently and as a member of a group are essential.
Desirable requirements include good networking skills, experience in manufacturing processes, RNA vaccine production, working with pathogens, and/or in high containment facilities, and experience of working to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and/or Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
