Main Duties and Responsibilities- Assist in the planning, organization, and execution of undergraduate instruction.
- Conduct a variety of teaching and evaluation activities aimed at delivering course content at the undergraduate level.
Engage in a range of course management tasks, adhering to required timelines, which include effective communication of information, grading, assessment, and timely constructive feedback.
- Support the creation of suitable teaching resources, ensuring that content and delivery methods align with established learning objectives.
- Contribute to the effective application of educational technologies to enhance course delivery, organization, feedback, and assessment. This may involve blended and/or online instruction utilizing various IT tools.
Utilize specialized knowledge in teaching that best addresses the needs of individual learners and groups, ensuring an inclusive and evidence-based approach that fosters student engagement and achievement.
Participate in the comprehensive assessment process employing diverse methods and techniques, including oral assessments, and provide effective, timely, and constructive feedback to support student learning.
Assist in overseeing student projects, dissertations, and practical work, offering guidance on skills, methodologies, and techniques to facilitate knowledge transfer, while responding to the diverse support needs of learners.
- Engage in ongoing professional development activities as necessary.
- Perform any other reasonable duties as assigned by the Head of School.
- Contribute to enhancing the University's global reputation in alignment with its Strategic Plan.
Qualifications A relevant Honours degree (SCQF Level 10) in the teaching area or possess expertise in a related field, along with an understanding of teaching, learning, and assessment principles.
Currently registered and working towards a PhD (MPhil/PhD) or PGT qualification in a pertinent subject.
Knowledge, Skills and ExperienceIn-depth knowledge of the subject area.
Experience in delivering and supporting undergraduate or postgraduate students in either online, distance learning, or face-to-face settings.
Experience in supervising, mentoring, or teaching students in practical and interactive learning environments.
Relevant administrative experience (e.g., student support, course management, etc.).
Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
Proficiency in using IT and relevant software to support teaching and learning.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Capability to meet deadlines.
Commitment to the University's established values and professional standards.
Terms and ConditionsSalary will be Grade 6, £32,332 - £36,024 per annum pro rata. This position is offered on a fractional basis and is fixed-term.
