An exciting opportunity has emerged for a skilled, passionate, and motivated Commis Chef to play a vital role in our award-winning Catering Services team at the House of Commons. Attached are images showcasing the exquisite main course dishes crafted by our talented chefs.
The Catering Services department is committed to delivering top-notch service through a dedicated and professional team, benefiting all our patrons. We oversee the effective functioning of the House of Commons catering facilities within the established financial guidelines.
Role Responsibilities
This position entails supporting senior chefs in the efficient and effective management of a designated kitchen, which includes:
- Preparing, producing, and serving all menu items and related offerings.
- Executing necessary mise-en-place as directed by Senior Chefs.
- Adhering to Food Safety and Health and Safety regulations.
- Taking initiative to learn new culinary techniques.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:
- Relevant culinary qualifications such as City and Guilds 706:1&2 or NVQ levels 1, 2 & 3 or equivalent.
- Proven kitchen experience in a similar role, with a solid understanding of Food Hygiene and Health and Safety standards.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to foster effective relationships and collaborate successfully within a team, while promoting the values of equality, diversity, and inclusion.
- Able to work effectively as part of a team, often under pressure, and prioritize personal workload to deliver high-quality service aligned with business objectives.
- Exceptional customer service skills, with the ability to respond promptly to client needs.
- A basic awareness of current culinary trends and practices.
