Position Overview
The Senior Community Mental Health Team (SCMHT) is dedicated to managing individuals with confirmed diagnoses of severe mental health conditions, including psychotic disorders, bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder, anxiety disorders, and personality disorders, as well as those with intricate mental health requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
This is a replacement position. In accordance with innovative working practices, the incumbent will offer consultative, supervisory, and supportive functions to the multidisciplinary team. The anticipated case load is approximately 330. Most clinical activities will occur in a clinic setting, although patients may also be visited at home when necessary. Clinics may be located at various sites within a short distance from the primary base.
- Conduct assessments for referrals and admissions to the service.
- Diagnose and develop management strategies for complex cases.
- Provide treatment for resistant and complicated cases.
- Assess and manage risks, including vulnerability, suicidal ideation, health and safety risks, and potential harm to others.
- Prepare reports for Mental Health Review Tribunals and Managers' Hearings, and attend the subsequent hearings.
- Collaborate effectively with the multidisciplinary team and external partners.
- Partner with psychiatrists from affiliated organizations, including Forensic and Rehabilitation Psychiatry.
Leadership Responsibilities
- Guide clinical decision-making within the multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality care delivery.
- Establish clinical priorities for the service in alignment with national and professional standards.
- Participate in service transformation initiatives, including attendance at Consultant meetings.
Educational Responsibilities
- Provide clinical supervision to trainees to help them gain essential psychiatric experience.
- Offer guidance to trainees in achieving competencies in general psychiatry.
