Job Summary

This role is ideal for an individual with a strong background in servicing, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of lighting fixtures, control equipment, and dimmers. The successful candidate will possess excellent technical skills, customer-facing abilities, and a proactive approach to improving their product knowledge and staying up-to-date with industry trends.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake proactive and reactive service visits to identify and resolve equipment faults at client premises.
  • Lead and supervise large-scale lighting equipment services, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
  • Perform on-site repairs and bench repairs of client equipment, as required.
  • Provide timely and accurate reporting for all site visits, service, maintenance, and repair work carried out.
  • Offer telephone and online support to clients, addressing technical questions and providing guidance on equipment and systems.
  • Participate in the out-of-hours call-out rota to provide support to contracted clients.
  • Develop and implement new methods and techniques to improve servicing accuracy and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Systems Design and Installations teams to ensure seamless communication and delivery of serviceable and maintainable projects.
  • Ensure all equipment is serviced in compliance with safety and electrical legislation.
  • Adhere to current Health and Safety guidelines and policies at all times.
  • Work closely with the Installations Team to plan and execute commissioning/programming of new installations projects, serving as a Tech Buddy to ensure efficient handover to Tech Service.
  • Follow established procedures and guidelines as outlined by the Tech Service Manager and White Light.
  • Liaise with account handlers to assess the feasibility and availability of replacement equipment for hire to service customers.
  • Assist colleagues with general warehouse duties and support other departments/divisions within White Light.
  • Meet physical demands of the role, including lifting up to 10kg, climbing stairs and ladders, working at height, and raising arms above the head.
  • Travel to client sites via public transport, transporting tool cases and equipment as required.
Technical Requirements
  • Extensive operational and technical knowledge of lighting systems and control equipment, including Moving Lights, LED fixtures, Lighting Consoles, Followspots, Installed and touring Dimmers, Smoke and FX, and Processors.
  • Strong understanding of DMX and associated network control systems.
  • Good understanding of AMX/DALI Lighting control systems, an advantage.
  • Ability to program and reprogram lighting consoles to meet customer specifications.
  • Excellent fault-finding skills and ability to think laterally.
  • Good use and understanding of test equipment and tools.
  • Good soldering skills.
  • Strong customer focus and understanding of client sensitivities when working on-site.
  • BS7909 or other electrical qualifications, an advantage.
  • Experience in Portable Appliance Testing/ISITEE, desirable.
  • Ability to work at height.
  • Current PASMA, IPAF, and ECS cards, desirable.
