Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Private Client Solicitor to join our Private Client team at Higgs LLP. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for providing expert advice to clients on a range of private client matters, including wills, trusts, and estate planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review existing estate planning documentation, including lifetime trusts and will structures, and advise on their suitability.
  • Prepare all types of wills, including those to absorb qualifying business assets and agricultural assets, and have a comprehensive understanding of the role of trusts for asset protection purposes.
  • Develop and maintain a strong knowledge of inheritance tax, capital gains tax, and other relevant tax laws.
  • Advise on pilot trusts associated with pension planning and life policies, and have a good understanding of business trusts and cross-option arrangements.
  • Work closely with the wider private client team to support clients on all aspects of wealth work.
  • Provide supervision and support to junior team members, contributing to bi-monthly file reviews and ensuring efficient administration, billing, and cost recovery.
  • Assist in implementing the departmental business plan and the firm's business plan, contributing to the wealth business plan and growing a professional following to introduce new work streams.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes and developments in the law through continuing professional development (CPD) and maintain a strong profile, network, and reputation within the business community.
