About the Role

Stafford Health & Wellbeing is seeking an experienced Practice Manager to lead our team and drive the success of our GP practice.

Main Responsibilities

As Practice Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing business development plans to drive forward the practice's aims and objectives
  • Monitoring and evaluating the performance of the practice team against objectives and identifying areas for improvement
  • Developing and maintaining effective communication within the practice and with external agencies
  • Ensuring business continuity and disaster recovery procedures are in place
  • Coordinating meetings and preparing agendas, minutes, and action points
  • Developing and implementing practice protocols and administrative procedures
  • Managing and overseeing the recruitment and retention of staff
  • Providing a general personnel and team management/HR service to all staff
  • Ensuring all staff are legally and gainfully employed
  • Monitoring staff skill-mix, efficiency, and deployment
  • Managing staffing levels within target budgets
  • Overseeing staff payroll, including pensions
  • Overseeing staff induction and training
  • Ensuring all staff follow and adhere to policies, standards, and guidelines
  • Overseeing annual leave systems and study leave systems
  • Developing and implementing effective staff absence monitoring systems, back to work interviews, and staff support procedures
  • Developing and implementing effective staff appraisal, personal development plans (PDP), and monitoring systems
  • Supporting and mentoring staff to maximize staff morale and efficiency
  • Implementing effective systems for resolving disputes and grievances
  • Keeping abreast of changes in employment legislation
  • Ensuring up-to-date HR documentation and systems
  • Ensuring contractual reporting systems
  • Using technology to support HR systems and maximize efficiency
  • Arranging indemnity and locum insurance cover
  • Liaising with partners on staff development
  • Taking overall responsibility for the management and resolution of significant events and complaints
  • Providing strategic oversight and understanding of the practice finances
  • Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of Health and Safety
  • Supporting equality, diversity, and rights of patients, carers, and colleagues
  • Working effectively with individuals in other agencies to meet patient needs
  • Effectively managing own time, workload, and resources

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Ability to work well in a team and autonomously
  • Able to adopt a solutions-focused approach
  • Excellent communication, oral and written, and interpersonal skills

Desirable:

  • Understanding of team dynamics

Qualifications

Essential:

  • GCSE standard or equivalent with grade C or above in English
  • Evidence of a commitment to continuing professional development
  • Excellent keyboard skills and experience of using Microsoft Office Word and Excel

Desirable:

  • Experience of using EMIS computer software
  • Management experience in GP practice management
