Job Title: Assistant Project Manager

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Project Manager to join our team at Marlborough Highways. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating teams of directly employed and subcontract labor and staff across our North London contracts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Site Safety and Risk Management: Ensure the safe running of sites and monitor the implementation and control of safe working procedures.
  • Project Planning and Coordination: Prepare, implement, and review risk assessments and method statements, and effectively interact and communicate with management and supervision.
  • Cost Management: Manage site plant details and proactively reduce costs where applicable, and report and manage all vehicle defects for the contract in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain good relationships with stakeholders and liaise with clients at the depot or on site.
  • Inductions and Inspections: Oversee depot and site inductions, and conduct health and safety and environmental inspections in line with company requirements.
  • Works Orders and Permits: Issue works orders and instructions to site, and ensure all permits to complete site operations are completed in full, briefed, and understood.
  • Site Diary and Record Keeping: Complete a daily site diary and review site daily record sheets from the sites.
  • Programming and Resourcing: Program and resource all works for the contracts operating from all areas of operations, and organize and resource staff labor, plant, and materials to ensure effective and economic progress.
  • Cost Optimization: Minimize the cost of works through correct programming and utilization of labor, plant, materials, and subcontractors.
  • Contract Variations: Identify variations to the contract through work records and site measurements, and instigate the change management process.
  • Operative Training: Organize and present operative toolbox talks as appropriate.
  • Work Records and Payments:
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor the standard of work of all site staff, and take off material for procurement in accordance with the contract program.
  • Material Quality Control: Check materials delivered to site and report all non-conformities.
  • Commercial Management: Ensure that labor, plant, and material costings are entered onto the computerized works management system in line with the monthly commercial management process.
  • Measurement and Valuation: Oversee the collection of measurement information to enable the works to be valued.
  • Commercial Viability: In conjunction with the operations manager, ensure that the operations are commercially viable.
  • Timesheets: Deal with all timesheets.
Requirements:

We are looking for an experienced Assistant Project Manager with a background in highways and a proven track record in project management and coordination. Previous experience in an Assistant PM position or supervisor position is required.
