Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician/Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team at Kent Hospital. As a key member of our Laboratory Services department, you will be responsible for analyzing, evaluating, and interpreting various specimens to detect, diagnose, and treat medical conditions.
Responsibilities:
- Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of patient specimens according to established procedures.
- Operate complex biomedical electronic instrumentation, including calibration, maintenance, quality assurance, and troubleshooting.
- Perform and analyze quality control procedures, including daily testing, recording, problem resolution, and compiling reports to ensure accuracy of all results.
- Review and verify the accuracy of test results before entering them into the information system.
- Maintain a proper inventory of supplies needed to provide continuous service, minimizing downtime.
- Evaluate test results for accuracy, reportability, and clinical significance and report accordingly.
- Maintain current knowledge of specialty by attending seminars, in-services, and reading journals.
- Evaluate new methodologies and instrumentation under the guidance of the Section Chief and report findings and recommendations.
- Assume supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the Department Head. Orient and train new employees/students.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
MLT: An Associate's degree in Medical Lab Technology and a minimum of six months job-related experience or equivalent is required. RI License and ASCP/AMT is also required.
MT: A Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or Specific Science and a minimum of six months job-related experience or equivalent is required. RI License and ASCP or NCA is also required.
