Medical Laboratory Specialist

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Technician/Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team at Kent Hospital. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for analyzing and interpreting various specimens to detect, diagnose, and treat medical conditions.
Responsibilities:
- Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of patient specimens, including specimen collection and handling.
- Operate complex biomedical electronic instrumentation, ensuring calibration, maintenance, and quality assurance.
- Conduct quality control procedures, including daily testing, recording, and problem resolution.
- Verify the accuracy of test results before entering them into the information system.
- Maintain a proper inventory of supplies to ensure continuous service.
- Evaluate test results for accuracy, reportability, and clinical significance.
- Stay current with industry developments by attending seminars, in-services, and reading journals.
- Assume supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the Department Head, orienting and training new employees/students.
Requirements:
MLT: An Associate's degree in Medical Lab Technology and a minimum of six months of job-related experience or equivalent is required. RI License and ASCP/AMT certification are also required.
MT: A Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a Specific Science and a minimum of six months of job-related experience or equivalent is required. RI License and ASCP or NCA certification are also required.
