Key Responsibilities
  • Preparation and Execution: Prepare and cook dishes according to established recipes, guidelines, and instructions within the open kitchen.
  • Culinary Techniques: Execute culinary techniques specific to the assigned section, ensuring that the quality, taste, and presentation of dishes meet the established standards.
  • Setup and Organisation: Assist in the setup and organisation of the assigned section before service, ensuring that all necessary ingredients, equipment, and tools are available and in proper working order.
  • Quality Control: Monitor and maintain the quality and consistency of dishes throughout the cooking process. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed. Report any quality or consistency issues to senior chefs for resolution.
  • Inventory Management: Assist in the management of ingredient inventory for the assigned section, ensuring proper stock rotation, storage, and labelling. Notify senior chefs of any shortages or discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with the culinary team, effectively communicate and collaborate to ensure smooth operations and timely service. Assist colleagues as needed and follow instructions from senior chefs.
  • Menu Planning: Contribute ideas and suggestions for new dishes, improvements, or adaptations for the assigned section. Collaborate with senior chefs in menu planning and development.
  • Food Safety and Hygiene: Adhere to strict food safety and hygiene standards, including proper handling, storage, and labelling of ingredients. Ensure cleanliness and sanitation in the assigned section, following all health and safety regulations.
  • Professional Development: Show a desire to develop and complete any training courses available and encourage others.
  • Section Management: Take responsibility and ownership of their section, ensuring that a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness is maintained.
  • Leadership: Set examples to less experienced team members.
  • Continuous Improvement: Improve culinary skills and knowledge continuously, by staying updated on industry trends, techniques, and new ingredients.
  • Presentation and Communication: Cook confidently and present food to guests well - has the ability to explain dishes in a clear, confident, and professional manner.
  • Professionalism: Seek guidance from senior chefs and actively participate in training programs and workshops.
  • Personal Presentation: Be presentable at all times in clean, pressed uniform, with long hair tied back. Attention to personal hygiene is also extremely important.
Requirements
  • Culinary Qualification: Culinary qualification or experience in a professional kitchen.
  • Food Hygiene Qualification: Food hygiene qualification is essential.
  • Previous Experience: Previous experience in a professional kitchen, preferably in a similar role.
  • Culinary Skills: Strong culinary skills with knowledge of various cooking techniques and kitchen equipment, particularly in the pastry section.
  • Attention to Detail: Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality dishes.
  • Food Safety and Hygiene: Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards and the ability to follow them strictly.
  • Teamwork and Communication: Excellent teamwork and communication skills to effectively collaborate with the kitchen team.
  • Flexibility: Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as per the demands of the restaurant.
  • Physical Stamina: Physical stamina and dexterity to stand for long periods, lift heavy pots and pans, and perform repetitive tasks.
  • First Aid and Fire Warden: Can act as a First Aid Aider or Fire Warden in the event of an accident or emergency.

  • Salary: £32,500
  • Gratuities: £190 - £230 per month
