Key Responsibilities

As an Airfield Ground Lighting Technician, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the safety and efficiency of airport operations. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Documenting and recording all maintenance activities, alignments, and installations as per the established Codes of Practice.
  • Performing routine maintenance and installation of additional airport aeronautical ground lighting equipment as required.
  • Carrying out other related duties as assigned, consistent with your training and expertise.
  • Attending training sessions as directed to enhance your competence in maintaining aeronautical ground lighting systems to the standards set by regulatory bodies.
  • Executing planned maintenance schedules effectively.
  • Assisting in the management of Airfield Engineering stores.
  • Supporting the training of junior engineers or apprentices as needed.
  • Ensuring compliance with current Electrical Regulations and the company's Quality Management procedures.

Qualifications for Success

This position is based on-site, so candidates should reside within a reasonable commuting distance. Ideal candidates will possess:

  • Experience as an electrical engineer or contractor, ideally with a recognized apprenticeship, such as NVQ3 in Electrical Installation.
  • Proficiency in fault finding and troubleshooting.
  • 18th Edition (BS7671) qualification.

We value a methodical approach to problem-solving, critical thinking skills, and the ability to take initiative. Strong verbal communication skills are essential for effective interaction with contractors, Air Traffic Control, colleagues, and management. Additionally, written communication skills are vital for producing accurate technical documentation and professional reports.

Previous experience in an aerodrome or air traffic control setting is advantageous but not mandatory.
