Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated General Practice Support Assistant to facilitate the efficient operation of our dynamic healthcare facility.

This multifaceted position encompasses a variety of administrative and routine clinical responsibilities, allowing our General Practitioners to concentrate on patient care.

The ideal candidate will possess or be prepared to pursue the GP Assistant Certificate qualification.

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the successful candidate will include:

  • Overseeing the annual recall process for long-term conditions by generating patient communications, coding medical records, and reaching out to patients via SMS, phone, or letter, while aligning with quality targets and maintaining accurate data.
  • Organizing, prioritizing, and directing incoming clinical correspondence, extracting necessary information, and applying medical codes to patient records, while providing feedback on relevant data.
  • Managing the triage of electronic consultations through the designated inbox, ensuring timely communication with patients and feedback to management.
  • Ensuring safeguarding responsibilities are met, including attending relevant meetings, compiling reports, and liaising with safeguarding leads.
  • Coordinating appointments, referrals, tests, and follow-up visits for patients.
  • Preparing patients for appointments by collecting brief medical histories and basic measurements such as height and weight.
  • Conducting basic clinical tasks such as urine testing, blood pressure monitoring, ECGs, and phlebotomy.
  • Completing essential forms for GP approval, including insurance and benefits documentation.
  • Providing explanations of treatment procedures to patients.
  • Assisting with immunizations and wound care.
