Join our dedicated team at TimePlan Education as a PMLD/SEND Teaching Assistant in a specialized educational environment. We are seeking individuals who are not only experienced but also compassionate, with a background in supporting individuals with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD).


Role Overview:
You will play a crucial role in assisting children and young adults facing complex and severe learning challenges. Your primary responsibility will be to support the class teacher in providing exceptional educational experiences and care tailored to students with PMLD and other additional needs.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with the class teacher to develop and implement individualized learning plans that cater to each student's unique needs and capabilities.
  2. Assist students with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, feeding, and toileting.
  3. Create a nurturing and secure learning atmosphere that encourages student engagement and well-being.
  4. Implement strategies for managing challenging behaviors, working closely with the class teacher and external professionals when necessary.
  5. Provide support for students with physical disabilities, including the use of specialized equipment and moving assistance.
  6. Build and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and caregivers, ensuring regular communication and support.


Qualifications:

  • Commitment to a full-time role, working five days a week.
  • Experience in supporting individuals with additional needs, particularly in educational settings.
  • Understanding of PMLD and a proven track record of working with students with severe and complex needs.
  • Familiarity with the National Curriculum and the ability to assist in learning across various subjects and age groups.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative spirit.
  • A positive, caring demeanor with a genuine desire to foster student success.
  • Experience in behavior management techniques.
