Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Note Taker to provide academic support to a student with a visual impairment studying a degree at a higher education institution. The successful candidate will be responsible for electronically taking notes in lectures, seminars, and tutorials, and assisting the student to access support on and around campus.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To directly take electronic notes on a laptop during face-to-face and virtual lectures, seminars, and tutorials for students with a visual impairment.
  • To ensure notes are clear and comprehensive, requiring fast and accurate typing, accurate spelling, and the ability to extract all relevant information.
  • To work in a professional, helpful, and flexible manner, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
  • To produce notes that are clear, complete, and legibly written, and to hand them over to the student within 24 hours of the lecture taking place.
  • To manage paperwork effectively, including filling in timesheets accurately and promptly posting them at the end of each month.
  • To attend any relevant training or meetings.

Requirements:

  • A degree or equivalent work experience.
  • A mandatory qualification in Note Taking for Students with a Visual Impairment, which will be provided by Senclude Limited.
  • Quick and accurate typing skills.
  • Adaptability with time.
  • IT literacy.
  • Excellent literacy skills.

Working Arrangements:

The working hours will vary according to the needs of the student and the academic timetable. All Note Takers are currently paid on a self-employed basis, and are responsible for paying their own National Insurance Contributions and Income Tax.
