Job Summary

The Department of Health and Social Care is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead the NHS Workforce Programme as a Director. This is a critical role that requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for the NHS workforce, ensuring alignment with the Department's goals and objectives.
  • Lead the coordination and governance of the NHS Long Term Workforce Planning process, ensuring effective collaboration with stakeholders across the Department and the NHS.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including NHS England, the Department for Education, and HM Treasury, to drive forward the Department's workforce agenda.
  • Provide strategic advice to Ministers on workforce-related issues, ensuring that they are well-informed and equipped to make informed decisions.
  • Work closely with the NHS England's Long Term Workforce Planning programme office to ensure seamless collaboration and effective delivery of workforce commitments.
  • Develop and maintain robust governance arrangements to ensure assurance and delivery of long-term workforce plans.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in a strategy role or leading a Secretariat function, with a strong track record of delivering results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex ideas to a range of stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership capabilities, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to critically assess complex information and make informed decisions.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to work effectively in a dynamic and ever-changing environment.
