Our Youth Support Specialists play a vital role in assisting clients in achieving their personal objectives, such as attending educational institutions and developing independent living skills.

Our exceptional Training Academy will equip you with the necessary skills tailored to your clients' needs, ensuring your competence in the role. You will receive ongoing support and guidance from our management team to facilitate your career progression.

Key Responsibilities

We have openings for both DAY and NIGHT shifts, with options for PART TIME and FULL TIME positions. As a Youth Support Specialist, you will work consistent BLOCK HOUR shifts with designated clients.

Support visits can range from 4 to 12 hours at a time, ensuring our clients receive one-on-one or two-on-one assistance at all times.

You will follow a two-week rolling schedule, which includes working alternate weekends as part of the role.

Your responsibilities will include assisting individuals with daily living activities such as:

  • Attending educational settings
  • Providing support during leisure activities
  • Assisting with personal care
  • Meeting nutritional and hydration needs (including specialized feeding techniques)
  • Administering medication
  • Facilitating community engagement through activities such as:
    • Visiting parks
    • Going bowling
    • Swimming
    • Participating in arts and crafts
    • Shopping
    • Exploring museums
    • Dining out

Job Responsibilities

Reporting Structure:

Reports to the Case Leader.

Role Summary:

To collaborate with other staff in addressing the personal care and support needs of clients in a manner that respects their dignity and promotes independence. The care and support provided by Youth Support Specialists are expected to encompass assistance that would typically be offered by family members and should not include tasks that require a trained nurse.

Principal Duties:

  • Assist clients with morning and evening routines, including dressing, bathing, and toileting.
  • Support clients with mobility and physical disabilities, including the use of personal aids.
  • Accompany clients on community outings, such as shopping or recreational activities.
  • Provide care for clients who are temporarily unwell, including assistance with feeding.
  • Support clients with terminal illnesses.
  • Encourage mental and physical activities through conversation, outings, and hobbies.
  • Perform light housekeeping tasks, such as making beds and tidying up.
  • Assist clients in educational settings.
  • Support clients with complex health conditions when applicable.
  • Prepare and serve light meals, including cleaning up afterward.
  • Document reports and participate in client reviews and training.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures consistently.
  • Report any significant changes in a client's health or circumstances to the Case Leader or Care Manager.
  • Promote client independence whenever possible.
