About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Buyer to join our Commercial team at Jollyes The Pet People. As a Senior Buyer, you will be responsible for the financial performance, product and supplier selection of specified sections or categories across our pet range.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with merchandising colleagues to own the full end-to-end product solution for each category, from sourcing to store and online presentation.
  • Build effective communications with retail teams to share the rationale and details of new product launches.
  • Source new supplier opportunities and supply routes, presenting range and propositions to the Trading Director.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to achieve the best price point for our customers, while keeping abreast of market pricing and competitor activity.
  • Review supplier performance against key performance indicators (KPIs) and manage any issues.
  • Create category strategies, define the range and associated margins, and share category insights with the wider business.
  • Work with the Learning and Development Manager to ensure colleague training for all new product launches and existing ranges.
  • Collaborate with the Technical Manager to ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards across all product ranges.
Requirements
  • Strong numerical skills, including data interpretation and analysis.
  • Organizational skills, with experience of horizon planning, critical path management, and working to tight deadlines.
  • Analytical skills, with experience of using Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience of FOB sourcing and negotiating, particularly in the pet industry.
  • Solution-oriented approach, with a proactive and self-driven mindset.
  • Ability to adapt to changing business needs and priorities.
  • Passion for animals and a commitment to providing excellent customer service.
  • Integrity and diligence, with a strong sense of ethics and responsibility.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.
