Role Overview

We are pleased to announce an opportunity for a Highways Operations Supervisor to become part of our dedicated team. This role involves overseeing and coordinating all reactive maintenance activities related to the road and pedestrian networks, drainage systems, bridge structures, and road markings.

The supervisor will collaborate closely with various departments and clients to ensure that all parties' interests are effectively addressed. The Highways Operations Supervisor will manage multiple work streams within both reactive and proactive maintenance programs, ensuring that projects are completed within established safety and time constraints.

Key Responsibilities

In the capacity of a Highways Operations Supervisor, you will:

  • Foster strong relationships with clients, ensuring that all tasks adhere to Company Safety, Environmental, and Quality standards.
  • Conduct Safety Audits as directed by management while providing leadership and guidance to multiple teams engaged in various activities, including footway and carriageway surfacing, paving, drainage, signage, and gully cleansing.
  • Ensure that operatives' Job Packs are consistently maintained and updated.
  • Collaborate with the Group Safety Department to compile and revise Safe Working Procedures relevant to your operations.
  • Possess a solid understanding of COSHH regulations, particularly concerning the Recycling Process, and communicate necessary information to personnel handling related materials.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will demonstrate relevant experience in managing highway maintenance operations. You should possess a comprehensive understanding of health and safety policies, strong IT skills, and the ability to maintain accurate work records. A valid clean driving license and thorough knowledge of site safety regulations are essential.

Compensation Package

At Colas, we provide a competitive total compensation package, which includes:

  • A salary range of £34,000 to £36,000, depending on experience, along with a Company Car or Car allowance.
  • Participation in our Colas Pension Scheme with combined contributions of up to 10%.
