About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Child Protection Specialist to join our Safeguarding and Reviews Service as an Independent Reviewing Officer. This is a permanent, 22 hours per week position that requires strong communication and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Chair child protection conferences in line with SET Child Protection Procedures and Working Together to Safeguard Children.
  • Review cases of children who are looked after and take necessary decisions to confirm the child's care plan.
  • Monitor progress of plans for children between CLA Reviews and Child Protection Conferences to ensure their needs are being met.
Requirements
  • Recognised Social Work qualification and registration with Social Work England.
  • Statutory local authority children's services experience.
  • Experience of improving outcomes for children who are being harmed, including children who experience domestic abuse and chronic neglect.
  • Ability to engage in a restorative manner with parents, carers and children.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbally and written.
What We Offer

As a Child Protection Specialist with our team, you will have the opportunity to work with a service that is committed to ensuring plans for children in our care are progressed without delay and lead to improved outcomes for children. You will also have the chance to work from home every two weeks for administration duties and participate in onsite and in-person meetings.
