About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Child Protection Specialist to join our Safeguarding and Reviews Service. As an Independent Reviewing Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the welfare and safety of children in our care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Chair child protection conferences in accordance with SET Child Protection Procedures and Working Together to Safeguard Children.
  • Review cases of children who are looked after and make decisions to confirm their care plans.
  • Monitor progress of plans for children between CLA Reviews and Child Protection Conferences to ensure their needs are being met.
Requirements

To be successful in this position, you must have a recognised Social Work qualification and be registered with the Social Work England. You will also need to have statutory local authority children's services experience and experience of improving outcomes for children who are being harmed.

You will need to have strong communication skills, both verbally and written, and the ability to engage in a restorative manner with parents, carers and children. You will also need to have the ability to share expertise in the field of child protection with social workers, social work managers and partner agencies.
