Maintenance Engineer

Job Summary
United Steels Ltd is seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to oversee the maintenance of our facilities and equipment. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring smooth operations by working closely with the current team.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment to prevent downtime and ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues to identify and resolve problems efficiently.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
- Provide excellent customer service to internal departments by responding to their needs and concerns.
Requirements
- Hold a strong background in electrical and mechanical engineering, with a minimum of 3 years' experience in heavy engineering.
- Be proficient in troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues, with a focus on resolving problems efficiently.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, with a focus on tracking progress and identifying areas for improvement.
- Provide excellent customer service to internal departments, responding to their needs and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Have knowledge of steel processing lines, including slitting, decoiling, and recoiling.
- Have knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, with a focus on maintaining and repairing equipment.
- Have knowledge of overhead cranes, with a focus on safe operation and maintenance.
- Be able to read electrical and mechanical drawings, with a focus on understanding complex systems and equipment.
- Have knowledge of PLC's, drivers, and inverters, with a focus on programming and troubleshooting.
- Be able to carry out wiring or mechanical modifications as per instructions, with a focus on ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
Qualifications
- Hold a strong background in electrical and mechanical engineering, with a focus on heavy engineering.
- Be proficient in electrical and mechanical knowledge, with a focus on troubleshooting and resolving problems efficiently.
- Hold a minimum of 17th/18th edition wiring regulations and City & Guilds qualifications.
- Hold a certified welding skill set, with a focus on maintaining and repairing equipment.
- Hold an IPAF licence, although this is not essential.
Working Hours and Pay
Position is full-time, with exact hours to be discussed in the interview. The successful candidate must be open to any shift and flexible with shift change and call-outs. Details on exact pay rates will be discussed in the interview.
