Geotechnical Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Geotechnical Engineer to join our team at Hays Specialist Recruitment. As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will be responsible for conducting desktop studies and site walkover surveys, preparing contract documents, and reviewing factual reports from site investigations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducting desktop studies and site walkover surveys to gather data and information.
  • Preparing contract documents, including specifications, mini Bills of Quantities (BoQs), and testing requirements for site investigations.
  • Reviewing factual reports from site investigations and creating interpretive reports, which assess soil parameters, provide foundation recommendations, and address groundwater and contamination issues.
  • Coordinating with design teams for geotechnical design, offering options for ground improvement techniques and foundation strategies.
  • Developing project specifications, which may involve both external standard specifications and in-house specifications.
  • Performing engineering analyses, such as slope stability analysis, shallow foundation design, pile design, retaining wall design, soil nail and ground anchor design, and piling platform design.
  • Designing temporary structures for deep excavations.
  • Following company procedures in accordance with the Quality System.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need a Degree in Civil/Geotechnical/Geoinformatics/Geology Engineering, preferably 2:1. You must also have relevant experience in Geotechnical Engineering, with good technical knowledge, proficient in the use of geotechnical analysis and design software, and an awareness of recent developments in engineering design and research.
