We are seeking an experienced Senior Design Manager to join our Building team in Cambridge. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing the design process, design team, and trade contractor design on a large-scale commercial project.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist in the appointment of the design team and manage design team contracts to ensure cost, time, quality, and safety requirements are met.
- Develop and implement the project design management plan, ensuring all design team members are aware of their responsibilities.
- Manage the production and coordination of the design program, Employers Requirements, and design deliverables schedule throughout the project.
- Chair design team meetings and other design-oriented meetings to ensure clear communication and collaboration.
- Maintain accurate records of the design process, program, and deliverables.
- Review and approve design information through the project CDE.
- Ensure the design complies with client brief, contract, current legislation, town planning, building regulations, CDM, and relevant technical requirements.
- Ensure all responsibilities under CDM regulations are maintained by the project and design teams.
- Develop and maintain the BIM Execution Plan and CAD protocol.
- Verify that contractors' proposals are compliant with employer's requirements.
- Document any design derogations in the contract.
- Monitor and report on design progress on a weekly and monthly basis, taking action to maintain design delivery to time, cost, quality, and safety requirements.
- Demonstrable experience in delivering commercial projects through bid, PCSA, and delivery stages, with a proven track record of successfully converting and delivering on quality, time, and budget.
- Extensive experience in design delivery, including building, civil engineering, and MEP installations.
- Experience in delivering design across the whole project lifecycle (bidding, pre-construction, and construction phases).
- Proficiency in using digital technologies to deliver design, including CDE, BIM, and design coordination software, and experience in delivering to the ISO19650 Information Management standard.
