Position Overview:

In this role, you will report directly to the Group Programme and Health & Safety Manager, taking charge of the daily H&S operations. Your leadership will foster a supportive and encouraging team atmosphere while managing H&S protocols and procedures, as well as overseeing training and auditing for The West Group Ltd. You will actively contribute to the achievement of both company and departmental goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Offer expert H&S management advice and support to team members.
  • Ensure that all Method Statements, Risk Assessments, Safe Systems of Work, and COSHH Assessments are current and routinely evaluated.
  • Participate in monthly H&S Committee meetings across various companies.
  • Assist the Programme and H&S Manager in conducting personal risk assessments for employees needing additional support.
  • Deliver comprehensive H&S inductions for new hires and ensure timely completion of inductions at other locations.
  • Collaborate in the design, development, and implementation of in-house H&S training for new employees, along with regular refresher courses and toolbox talks for all staff.
  • Work alongside the Facilities Manager to guarantee that all equipment is maintained and that regulatory inspections, such as LOLER and LEV, are performed.
  • Conduct regular workplace inspections and audits throughout the organization to ensure compliance, working with various departments to provide actionable recommendations for enhancements.
  • Stay informed about relevant regulatory and ISO standards.

Essential Qualifications:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate (Required)
  • IOSH Managing Safely (Required)
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and 14001 (Preferred)
  • Comprehensive understanding of H&S regulations
  • A minimum of 2 years of H&S experience in a comparable position
  • Proven experience in conducting safety management audits
  • Experience in delivering H&S training
  • Willingness to travel across regions as necessary
  • Valid driving license is mandatory
