Our claims department is a key part of our business, working closely with underwriting teams to facilitate seamless communication and idea exchange. We strive to be proactive and flexible in managing claims while maintaining our integrity.
Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Claims Handler to join our Complex Claims Team in Leeds. The successful candidate will provide an excellent claims service to our clients and brokers.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full responsibility and accountability for a workload of claims covering various classes of business, with a focus on Professional Indemnity, Employers Liability, Public Liability, and Care.
- Prioritize work, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines to see claims through to final settlement in a proactive manner.
- Develop a detailed knowledge of policy wordings and their application for Professional Indemnity, Employers' Liability, Public Liability, and Management Liability claims across all classes of business, as well as a working knowledge of all UK Retail wordings.
- Maintain good and regular communication with key brokers and ensure relationships are maintained.
- Contribute to team projects as required by the Complex Claims Team Leader and the Head of Insurance Claims.
Requirements
- Either a claims background or legal background/experience.
- Experience in care claims, professional indemnity, social welfare would be desirable.
- Good Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook, and the ability to become fully competent with our in-house systems.
- Studying towards or having a real desire to study towards CII qualifications (Markel funded).
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent organization skills.
