About The Role

We are seeking a Strategic Supplier Engagement Specialist to join our team on a Full-Time, Permanent basis.

In this role, you will be instrumental in helping National Grid become the preferred partner for our suppliers, enhancing our supplier relationships to align with our strategic goals. You will actively contribute to the development of processes for ongoing engagement and manage relationships with our key suppliers. Collaborating with category managers and Business Unit leaders, you will drive initiatives and innovations that position us as a client of choice, securing our supply chain for the future.

Given the current landscape, our supply chains face unique challenges, placing National Grid Procurement at the forefront of our Net Zero objectives. What You'll Do

  • Assist the Strategic Supplier Engagement Manager in implementing the Supplier Relationship Management strategy.
  • Collaborate with the Strategic Supplier Manager to drive engagement and deliver initiatives with key suppliers.
  • Develop materials to facilitate supplier interactions.
  • Coordinate team activities, track progress, and plan future actions.
  • Mediate and provide recommendations when priorities conflict, escalating as necessary.
  • Organize stakeholder engagements, such as forums and workshops, with strategic suppliers.
  • Work with the Market Supplier Development Team to explore new market opportunities.
  • Contribute to supplier segmentation assessments to adapt to changing dynamics.
  • Support category teams in implementing effective commercial strategies and managing contract risks.
  • Promote awareness of the Strategic Supplier Engagement Program through training initiatives.
  • Participate in 'Voice of the Supplier' surveys to gather insights for continuous improvement.

About You

  • Experience in Procurement or Supply Chain, particularly in Supplier Engagement or Management.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of conveying complex information clearly.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated with a focus on achieving business objectives.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to simplify complex issues.
  • Comfortable making decisions with incomplete information.
  • Experience managing multiple stakeholder interactions to drive results.
  • Analytical skills to present insights using tools like MS PowerPoint.
