About the Role

At Arup, we're committed to sustainable development and delivering socially useful work that has meaning. Our Building Engineering team is growing rapidly, and we're seeking highly motivated individuals to join our team of building physics specialists.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop energy modelling skills and assist with the development of energy and sustainability strategies for new build and existing buildings.
  • Work under the guidance of experienced team members to deliver effective and professional services for a range of varied and high-profile clients.
  • Contribute to the development of building physics and parametric model services, building performance and operational energy optimisation, certification and compliance, and net zero and whole life carbon services.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Built Environment, Sustainability, Energy, Architectural or Building Services Engineering, ideally with a specialism in Building Physics and/or energy modelling.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience of building physics, particularly in relation to heat transfer, energy, thermal comfort and natural ventilation.
  • Ability to use dynamic thermal modelling software such as IES:VE, DesignBuilder or similar.
  • Keen interest in developing digital design tools to help automate engineering processes.
  • Working knowledge of climate-based daylighting analysis, operational energy calculation using TM:54, sustainability rating tools such as NABERS, BREEAM and life cycle carbon costing.
