Job Overview
The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government is seeking a dedicated Physical Security Lead to join our dynamic and collaborative Security Team. This role is pivotal in implementing physical security protocols and strategies aimed at preventing unauthorized access, safeguarding assets from potential threats, and establishing comprehensive security measures through effective risk management across the MHCLG facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate the execution of physical security initiatives on behalf of MHCLG.
- Assist the Head of Physical and Personnel Security in assessing and addressing risks associated with MHCLG properties, collaborating with relevant stakeholders to ensure a cohesive security strategy.
- Oversee the preparation and submission of the annual Departmental Security Health Check (DSHC) and implement subsequent recommendations as necessary.
- Provide expert physical security guidance to stakeholders at all levels and develop the MHCLG Physical Security Policy.
- Ensure compliance with the GovS007 Security policy and Minimum Physical Security Standards.
- Draft Security Operational Requirements (ORs) for each MHCLG location.
- Manage the MHCLG building pass system across the estate.
- Offer tailored security advice for MHCLG events, including conferences and event management.
- Conduct Security Education and Awareness sessions in partnership with the Head of Security Education and Awareness, creating a program of outreach sessions.
- Support the Head of Incident Management as needed.
- Assist the Private Office in providing effective security for staff and Ministers.
- Serve as a role model within the security community, exemplifying Civil Service values and promoting professional development across government.
Candidate Profile
Essential Qualifications:
- In-depth knowledge of security protocols within Government, with a focus on physical security and risk mitigation.
- Proven ability to identify, anticipate, and effectively manage conflicts at both individual and team levels.
- Experience in assessing risks and developing mitigation strategies, with a background in implementing physical security solutions within an organization.
Desirable Qualifications:
- A recognized professional security certification.
- Membership in the Security Institute or a commitment to pursue it within the first year of employment.
