Manufacturing Engineer for Augmented Reality Displays

We're seeking a highly skilled R&D Manufacturing Engineer to join our Snap Lab team in Oxfordshire. The successful candidate will collaborate with our talented multidisciplinary team to develop new tools and processes that will enable next-generation nanophotonics and related systems for our world-leading augmented reality displays.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop novel ways of fabricating augmented reality waveguides through in-house early-stage development.
- Contribute to new and existing automation processes, ensuring efficiency and quality.
- Collaborate with internal and external teams across various disciplines and global locations, involving occasional travel within the UK and abroad.
- Work with equipment vendors and suppliers to identify and source new components and systems.
- Assist in transferring and disseminating process knowledge within the company.
- Demonstrable record of hands-on process development with attention to detail.
- Experience in building tools to develop processes to proof-of-concept level.
- Background in high-volume production (e.g., FMCG, consumer electronics, medical devices).
- Experience in specifying and commissioning third-party automation equipment.
- Knowledge of mechanical design, mechatronics, and industrial automation (robotics, machine vision, inline measurement and monitoring).
- Ability to communicate effectively across disciplines and team structures.
- Capacity to work independently or closely with colleagues as required.
- Strong problem-solving skills and curiosity.
- Experience in optics or semiconductor manufacturing.
- Knowledge of CAD (SolidWorks or NX) and GD&T, programming (e.g., Python, Matlab), and quality management systems.
We offer a competitive salary range £90,000 - £113,000 (annual salary) commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs. Our compensation philosophy is designed to attract and retain top talent in the industry.
