Lancashire County Council is seeking a dedicated and caring Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join its hard working team. The Education Unit based at The Cove NHS inpatient unit provides assessment and diagnosis of the mental health needs of children and young people. Education staff work closely with clinical colleagues and professionals for other agencies and schools, requiring the ability to work collaboratively and have good communication skills. The team delivers an in-centre timetable and reintegration support to pupils in Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. Education provision at The Cove is part of LHES (Lancashire Hospital Education Service), providing education for young people unable to access mainstream while they are inpatients within the NHS unit due to Tier 4 mental health needs. Pupils can be Lancashire residents or residents of other local authorities. Pupils remain on their school or college roll and our team liaise with school and college staff to provide continuity in education and to support reintegration. Pupils have a wide range of abilities, some may present with special educational needs and some are recognised as high achievers by their schools and families. The priority is to support each child and young person to access education and make progress. If interested, please contact the Teacher in Charge, Elisabeth Spencer, to discuss the role.
