Job Overview

This position is part-time.

We are thrilled to announce an opportunity to become a vital member of our Play Service team at Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust. The role requires adaptability, as your primary focus will be in the Out-Patients Department, with potential responsibilities across various wards and departments within the organization. Our dedicated team consists of 22 professionals in diverse roles, including Play Service Managers, Play Specialists, and Play Leaders.

As a Child Play Facilitator, you will be responsible for delivering engaging play and recreational activities for children who are attending outpatient clinics or staying on a ward. Collaboration with the Play Specialist team leader to implement play and distraction programs is also an essential part of your role.

You will promote the play service, ensuring that the environment is welcoming, age-appropriate, and secure. Strong communication skills, a passion for working with children and their families, and the ability to take initiative while being a team player are crucial for success in this position.

This is a permanent part-time role, and you will be included in the play team rota. The service operates Monday to Friday, requiring you to work across three full days (exact hours to be confirmed).

Key Responsibilities

- Deliver play services across all areas where children and young people receive care, adapting to their needs, including evenings and weekends.

- Facilitate play and activities tailored to the age and requirements of the children and young people throughout the organization.

- Ensure that the environment is friendly, age-appropriate, and safe for all children and young people.

- Collaborate with the Play Specialist to deliver developmental and therapeutic play and distraction programs.

- Actively promote and enhance play services within the organization.

Qualifications/Training

Essential

  • English Language GCSE A-C or Level 2 equivalent. Level 3 Diploma in Childcare & Education / NNEB Diploma in Nursery Nursing, NVQ Level 3 in Children's Care, Learning and Development, or other professional Childcare Qualification at Level 3 or above.

Desirable

  • Hospital Play Certificate, Play-work Sector Endorsed Foundation degree (PSEFD). One year of experience in a childcare setting. Documented evidence of Continued Professional Development.

Experience

  • Experience working with children and the ability to support volunteers and play assistants.

Desirable

  • Caring responsibilities and experience within the health service.
