Key Responsibilities:

  • Accountable to the Flying Operations Post Holder (FOPH) for the secure and effective execution of Uncrewed Air System flying operations across multiple Falcon Works UAS programs.
  • Offer SQEP UAS guidance to the FOPH and program teams.
  • Actively engage in the trials risk assessment process for designated UAS aircraft trials and ensure that risks are communicated to the FOPH when necessary.
  • Responsible for operational validation and aircrew endorsement of Aircraft Documentation Sets for UAS.
  • Represent SQEP aircrew guidance at Project Safety Committees for UAS, thereby assuring the Head of Flying that design hazards are being properly addressed.
  • Provide training to internal crew members for UAS operations.

Required Skills and Experience:

Essential Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of involvement in complex and demanding UAS flight operations as a UAS-P or UAS-C.
  • Experience in operating a large, sophisticated UAS.
  • Military pilot experience with aircraft such as Tucano, Texan, Hawk, or similar combat aircraft is advantageous.
  • UAS-PC with experience in operating UAS in military or civilian contexts.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • EUK CAA or EASA CPLIR certification.
  • Experience in Test and Evaluation.

About the UAS Pilot Team:
The Uncrewed Air System Pilot (UAS-P) will be tasked with the safe and effective execution of airborne test flights required by various BAE Systems Falcon Works UAS programs. These test flights will encompass experimental, development, production, and maintenance test flights. The UAS-P will provide Suitably Qualified Experienced Personnel (SQEP) advice to uncrewed air system programs at all organizational levels.
