Our facilities include modern recovery areas adjacent to our operating theatres, ensuring a high standard of care.
With a total of twenty-seven theatres dedicated to Adult and Obstetric procedures, our Trust engages in a wide array of elective and emergency surgeries across various specialties, including General Surgery, Robotics, Trauma and Orthopaedics, and Obstetrics.
We are seeking enthusiastic staff nurses and Operating Department Practitioners (ODPs) to join our theatres at various locations within the Trust.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional patient care and support during the recovery phase, advocating for patients' needs.
- Assume the role of recovery practitioner, ensuring a safe and effective environment for all.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Prepare and oversee the care environment and necessary equipment.
- Mentor and supervise junior staff, unregistered personnel, and students.

Job Duties
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to create measurable patient care plans, encompassing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Manage the clinical needs of a designated group of patients in the recovery area, prioritizing care based on clinical requirements.
- Delegate responsibilities to team members regarding patient care.
- Maintain accurate and timely nursing documentation in accordance with Trust standards.
- Ensure compliance with Trust policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Foster a safe environment for patients at all times.
- Administer medications following Trust protocols.
Qualifications
Essential
- Current NMC Registered General Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner qualification.
- Evidence of continuous professional development.
- Mentorship qualification or equivalent, with an expectation to complete within 18 months.
Desirable
- Recognized postgraduate qualification in theatre or anaesthetics.
- Teaching qualification.
- Post-registration qualification in a relevant specialty.
- Diploma or degree in nursing or a related health field.
