We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialist Child Protection Nurse to join our team at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our nursing team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to children and families.
Key Responsibilities- Take responsibility for a defined caseload of children and families, incorporating a care coordination remit as agreed.
- Provide effective nursing leadership, expertise, advice, and support to a team/department, ensuring the provision of high-quality care to children and families.
- Act as a role model and highly competent practitioner, demonstrating expertise in child protection and nursing leadership.
- Act as a designated resource to children and families, and other shared care professionals, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Facilitate the development of staff within the team, including registered nurses, student nurses, doctors, and others, to support staff in delivering care based on the most up-to-date evidence and best practice.
- Promote an innovative and progressive attitude to the continual improvement of patient care through research and evidence-based practice.
- On the relevant part of the NMC register (i.e., Children's registered).
- Assessing and mentoring qualification.
- Possession of a relevant honors degree.
- Sufficient experience at band 6 level or equivalent, including within a relevant clinical environment.
- Experience of leading and managing a team.
- Expert knowledge relevant to the specialty/field or practice (Cystic fibrosis-related diabetes, new onset diabetes after transplant, steroid-induced diabetes, Monogenic diabetes, and Type 1 & 2 diabetes).
- Previous experience of research and audit.
- Previous experience of change management and problem-solving.
- Experience of handling clinical incidents and complaints.
- Demonstrates Compassion in Practice.
- Understanding of professional and current issues in children's nursing and healthcare.
- Understanding of resource management, health and safety, clinical risk, and quality issues.
- Child protection procedures.
- Knowledge and understanding of diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
- Understanding of Diversity and Inclusion challenges in the workplace.
- Good attendance record.
- Evidence of fulfilling CPD.
- Detailed understanding of audit and research methodologies.
- Handling clinical incidents and complaints.
- Experience of working as a CNS.
