Job Role: The Child Protection Chair will occupy a senior consultancy position within the Local Authority, responsible for quality assurance of fieldwork services. Key responsibilities include:
  • Providing independent chairing of child protection conferences and other complex meetings, ensuring children and families are appropriately involved in decisions.
  • Contributing to improved standards and outcomes for children and their families by providing consultation and expert advice, and/or challenge on complex child protection matters to social workers, team managers and all stakeholders.
  • Conducting regular audits and inspections of fieldwork services to ensure statutory requirements are met, and making recommendations for action to raise practice standards.
  • Contributing to policy and procedure development, and training.
  • Maintaining professional independence from the line management of operational services and challenging practice when necessary.
