Our Level 4 Fashion Merchandising Trainee Program will equip you with practical experience at our Head Office, complemented by structured education through the Fashion Retail Academy. You will collaborate closely with our skilled merchandising teams to acquire the expertise necessary to advance into Trainee Merchandiser positions and eventually to Assistant Merchandiser roles and beyond.

Understanding Merchandising

Merchandising at NEXT is akin to curating your own wardrobe: ensuring a balanced selection that caters to every occasion. It’s about having the right product, at the right time, for the right price.

Daily responsibilities will include:

Identifying new opportunities for your department Analyzing sales data to assist in forecasting future trends Managing inventory levels between retail and online platforms to maximize sales Building strong relationships and negotiating product timelines with global suppliers Collaborating with various departments to optimize product performance

The Trainee Program

Your training will span approximately 18 months, during which you will engage with both theoretical and practical aspects of the product life cycle at our Head Office.

Learning will be delivered through a combination of online modules and in-person sessions at the Fashion Retail Academy's new campus in London, set to open in the near future.

About You

We seek individuals who are comfortable working with numbers, possess the ability to interpret data, and have a genuine enthusiasm for fashion and products.

A natural curiosity about the commercial fashion industry, the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment, and strong multitasking skills are essential.

Collaboration and effective communication are key, so being a team player is crucial.

Eligibility Criteria

Achieved grades A - C, or 4 - 9 in Maths and English at GCSE Must be a UK resident and have lived in the UK for the past three years A levels or equivalent qualifications totaling 112 UCAS points Willingness to travel for educational modules
