Job Summary

Northern Marine is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Operations Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Finance department, you will be responsible for the processing of all agency disbursement accounts and payments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and manage financial reports and statements for external clients.
  • Analyze budget variances and collaborate with budget holders to identify areas for improvement.
  • Support the Client Reporting Team Leader in the delivery of funding packs to clients.
  • Reconcile month-end balance sheets and resolve any discrepancies with the Accounts Payable function.
  • Process bank payments and reconciliations, and manage the Cash Book and General Ledger using Agresso.
  • Work closely with the Operations department to deliver vessel commentary to clients.
  • Maintain open purchase orders and follow internal processes, including Commitment Key Checks.
  • Process General Ledger transactions, including accruals and prepayments.
  • Perform ad hoc duties for clients and management as required.

Candidate Requirements

Essential

  • Qualified by experience in a relevant or similar role.
  • Experience preparing accounts to trial balance.
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
  • Excellent internal relationship development skills.
  • Willingness to adopt a proactive and flexible approach.
  • Proficient in Excel and Word.

Desirable

  • Part-qualified Accountant (AAT/ACCA/CIMA/ICAS) or part-qualified experience.
  • Experience working within a Finance function.
  • Previous working knowledge of using an ERP system.
  • Desire to develop within the role and the team.
