About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Duty Manager (Nights) to join our team at YHA (England and Wales). As a key member of our night team, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality of service is maintained throughout the night, delivering excellent service to all of our guests and giving them a great experience with YHA.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Deputy Manager (Nights) in ensuring the smooth operation of the hostel during night shifts.
  • Direct and support team members working on reception, ensuring that guests receive a high level of service and support.
  • Liaise with guests and residents in the hostel, dealing with any problems and resolving complaints in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Ensure the security of the hostel by carrying out regular checks, with a focus on security and fire safety.
  • Responsible for the service of alcohol and ensuring that all relevant policies and procedures are followed.
  • Conduct regular hostel inspections to ensure that the hostel is maintained to a high standard.
  • Prepare for breakfast service and ensure that all necessary preparations are made.
  • Support the Deputy Manager (Nights) in their duties and responsibilities, especially in their absence.
  • Carry out a comprehensive handover to the early Duty Manager before the end of the shift.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in a face-to-face role with customers, preferably in a hospitality or customer service environment.
  • Ability to work flexibly and be available to work a variety of shifts, including nights and weekends.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with guests, staff, and management.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on delivering excellent customer service.
  • Knowledge of health and safety procedures and protocols, with the ability to apply them in a practical setting.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
