We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Patient Transport Specialists to assist in the safe transportation of our patients, who may require additional support, to and from various medical appointments and facilities.

Each day presents unique challenges as a Patient Transport Specialist, and your contributions can significantly impact our patients' experiences.

This position involves working across various locations, providing essential transport services.

Key Responsibilities

The Patient Transport Specialist is responsible for the non-urgent transportation of patients to and from healthcare facilities and private residences. This role demands a professional demeanor and a caring approach, along with effective teamwork.

You will operate in pairs or independently, utilizing a range of vehicle types. Night shifts may also be required.

A valid UK manual driving licence with a minimum of one year of driving experience is necessary. (Please note that only minor motoring offences with a maximum of 3 penalty points will be considered.)

Your journey with the East of England Ambulance Service will commence with a comprehensive three-week paid training program (Monday - Friday). This training encompasses clinical education for 'First Person on Scene' and patient transport driver training, with a full uniform provided.

Commitment to the training program is essential.

Participants are eligible for mileage reimbursement for travel to and from the designated training location, with claims applicable for distances exceeding the commute to the base station.

Responsibilities Include:

1. Provide appropriate care for patients based on their needs, recognizing when additional support is necessary.

2. Accurately document and communicate patient information and care provided to relevant healthcare professionals, adhering to confidentiality policies.

3. Operate vehicles in a manner that prioritizes patient safety and comfort, following established training protocols.

4. Maintain vehicles in a clean and sanitary condition, complying with health and safety regulations.

5. Ensure effective communication with the Ambulance Liaison Office and other healthcare colleagues.

6. Assist patients in their homes before and after transportation, ensuring their basic needs are met.

7. Safely maneuver and lift patients as needed, following manual handling protocols.

8. Ensure timely transportation of patients to designated treatment areas.

9. Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance professional skills.
