Automation Engineer for Frontend Testing

CloudHire is looking for a talented Frontend Quality Assurance Engineer to enhance our team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the excellence and dependability of our web applications through thorough testing practices. We seek an engineer who can spearhead frontend testing initiatives from the ground up, overseeing their execution and ongoing management. Familiarity with AWS infrastructure, CI/CD workflows, and Chef scripting, along with the ability to transition from Cypress to Playwright, will be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Design and execute detailed frontend testing strategies utilizing Cypress or Playwright, with a strong preference for Playwright.
  2. Oversee the initiation and planning of new frontend testing projects from conception to deployment.
  3. Develop, run, and sustain automated test scripts to verify frontend functionalities.
  4. Work closely with frontend developers to identify and resolve issues early in the development process.
  5. Conduct exploratory testing to reveal hidden bugs and usability challenges.
  6. Evaluate test outcomes and provide comprehensive feedback to relevant stakeholders.
  7. Engage in code reviews to ensure testability and pinpoint automation opportunities.
  8. Enhance and maintain existing test suites for optimal efficiency and coverage.
  9. Optional: Manage and oversee AWS infrastructure.
  10. Optional: Streamline deployment and testing processes by implementing and refining CI/CD pipelines.
  11. Optional: Create Chef scripts for automated provisioning and configuration management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Demonstrated experience in frontend testing with Cypress or Playwright.
  • Participation in at least two implementations of Cypress or Playwright, with leadership in at least one.
  • Strong grasp of web technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue).
  • Experience with version control systems such as Git and issue tracking tools like JIRA.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and the software development lifecycle.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Experience leading frontend testing projects from conception to deployment.
  • Proficiency in converting Cypress code to Playwright, if skilled in Playwright.
  • Optional: Practical experience with AWS services and infrastructure management.
  • Optional: Knowledge of GitHub Actions for CI/CD pipelines and/or experience with other tools (e.g., Jenkins, CircleCI, GitLab CI/CD).
  • Optional: Expertise in Chef scripting for automating infrastructure tasks.
