We are seeking a skilled and driven Business Area Financial Controller to play a pivotal role in our finance department. This position offers flexible working arrangements, allowing for a minimum of three days in the office with adaptable start and finish times.
As a key member of the Finance Management Team, you will serve as a crucial advisor to the Finance Director, stepping in as needed. You will oversee the finance operations for the UK sector, encompassing Financial Accounting, Transactional Services, Financial Planning, Control, and Management Accounts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the precise and timely preparation of all local reports for Business Area management, including month-end closures, quarterly forecasts, and annual budget planning.
- Oversee the accurate preparation of all group reports and operational management in collaboration with Sweden, including month-end closures, quarterly forecasts, annual budgets, and treasury oversight.
- Manage primary relationships with external entities, such as banks, tax authorities, insurance firms, and audit companies.
- Act as the lead representative during the annual statutory audit process, ensuring timely completion of statutory accounts.
- Supervise the Transactional Services Team, ensuring that all financial transactions in both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable are processed accurately and promptly, adhering to the core financial processes.
- Coordinate positive trade working capital trends within the organization, supporting Division Managers and Heads of Commercial Finance in achieving their targets.
- Oversee compliance with corporation tax, VAT, and other indirect tax regulations.
- Manage the Sales Ledger, Purchase Ledger, and Approved Supplier processes, ensuring compliance and up-to-date records.
- Establish and maintain financial controls across all functional areas, including tax, banking, and general ledger, while ensuring adherence to the Financial Control Framework.
- Lead financial due diligence and integration processes for any mergers and acquisitions.
Qualifications:
- Professional qualifications such as CIMA, ACCA, ACA, or equivalent, with a minimum of five years of post-qualification experience.
- Demonstrated experience in a Financial Controller or similar leadership role.
- Extensive knowledge of technical and statutory accounting under IFRS and UK GAAP, including acquisition accounting and group consolidation.
- Proficient in accounting software and possess strong skills in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
- Strong commercial awareness with a comprehensive understanding of P&L and balance sheet management in a professional services environment.
- Ability to influence strategic decisions and make informed commercial choices within defined parameters.
- Proven experience in team leadership and exceptional stakeholder management skills.
- Experience in a multi-site organization is advantageous.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, adaptable to various audiences.
