Job Opportunity: Youth Work Manager

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Youth Work Manager to join our team at Dorset Councils. As a key member of our youth services team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality youth work programs and services to young people in Dorchester and surrounding areas.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a team of part-time and volunteer youth workers, delivering youth club sessions, programs for NEET young people, outreach work, and the Piddlehinton camp project.
  • Act as Lead Youth Work professional, ensuring up-to-date and robust safeguarding policies are in place and that staff and volunteers adhere to them.
  • Develop plans for projects and Centre-funded activities, manage and track budgets, produce accurate reports, and ensure projects are properly documented and delivered within budget.
  • Promote the Centre to young people in the town and develop the youth programs we offer further.
  • Maintain strong relationships with Dorset Council and with other youth organizations and stakeholders in the town, to maximize the effectiveness of our offering.
  • Assist the Trustees to fundraise and make grant applications.
Requirements:
  • Experience in delivering high-quality youth work programs and services.
  • Knowledge and understanding of best practices and policies relating to youth work.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive, supportive working relationships with young people.
  • Ability to supervise, manage, and motivate a team of youth workers and volunteers.
  • Good written communication skills and the ability to write accurate and succinct written reports and persuasive bids for funding.
What We Offer:
  • 20 hours per week.
  • Salary £31k pro rata.
  • 4 weeks plus bank holidays per year pro rata.
  • Auto-enrolment pension scheme.
