Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Consultant Colorectal Surgeon to join our esteemed team.

As a key member of the surgical department, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive care to patients with colorectal conditions. This includes performing a wide range of surgical procedures, both open and laparoscopic, as well as managing complex cases.

Responsibilities
  • Provide expert clinical management of patients with colorectal diseases, encompassing diagnosis, treatment planning, and postoperative care.
  • Perform a full spectrum of colorectal surgical procedures, including laparoscopic and open techniques, as well as advanced pelvic surgery.
  • Actively participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to ensure coordinated and holistic patient care.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical guidelines and protocols for colorectal surgery.
  • Supervise and mentor junior surgical staff, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
Requirements

Essential Criteria:

  • Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice. The candidate should be on the GMC Specialist Register, or within 6 months of obtaining this.
  • FRCS or qualification of an equivalent level.
  • Experience of general and colorectal surgery, laparoscopic colorectal surgery, and advanced pelvic surgery.
  • Involvement in audit.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Good organization skills.
  • Works well within a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Meets professional health requirements in line with GMC Standards/ Good Medical Practice.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Advanced Life Support.
  • Basic Surgical Skills instructor.
  • Joint Association Gastroenterology (JAG) accredited for colonoscopy RCS Faculty for surgical courses.
  • Students feedback.
  • Fellowship in IBD including pouches.
  • Fellowship in Laparoscopic colorectal surgery Training in TEMS, Endometriosis, Pelvic floor.
  • Track record of publications in peer reviewed journal Track record of Clinical Trails recruitment.
  • Presentation of audit in meetings.
  • Formal experience in Teaching with University.
  • Prior knowledge and experience of NET tumour.
  • Leadership role as a trainee or consultant level.
  • Occupational Health examination.
