Job Summary

This is a permanent Consultant post in Medical Oncology based at Northampton General Hospitals NHS Trust, with some work conducted at Kettering General Hospital.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Undertake clinical and managerial responsibility for Oncology specialties and patients, liaising with consultant colleagues, department teams, and general practitioners.
  2. Continuing responsibility for patient care, proper department functioning, and adherence to Operational Policy and Strategic Plan.
  3. Attend and participate in patient management through Multidisciplinary Teams, maintaining national standards and participating in Peer Review.
  4. Undertake research and commit to entering patients into clinical trials.
  5. Share responsibility for clinical standards, liaising with multidisciplinary teams and the Centre.
  6. Ensure professional standards within Oncology, adhering to national standards and local quality systems.
  7. Work as part of the Multidisciplinary Team in the Directorate.
  8. Attend national, network, and local meetings as appropriate, including ECAGs.
  9. Demonstrate commitment to clinical governance, participating in clinical audit and continuing medical education.
  10. Cooperate with local management in efficient service running and share consultant responsibilities in medical contribution to management.
  11. Participate in teaching programs for medical staff, medical students, and other hospital employees as required.
  12. Participate in the Centre's on-call rota with other consultants.
  13. Comply with departmental and Trust policies and procedures.
