About the Role:

Kammac Ltd is seeking a highly organized and safety-conscious individual to oversee the operations in the yard area of our brewery warehouse operation. As the Shift Operations Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the efficient movement, storage, and handling of materials, equipment, and vehicles within the yard.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate the movement of vehicles and goods within the yard, ensuring seamless logistics and minimal downtime.
  • Organize the storage of materials, pallets, and kegs, maximizing space utilization and minimizing waste.
  • Ensure the yard is kept clean, tidy, and free of hazards at all times, maintaining a safe working environment for all staff.
  • Manage loading/unloading activities, ensuring all vehicles are loaded efficiently and safely, adhering to company protocols and regulations.
  • Track inventory stored in the yard and report any discrepancies or issues to the Warehouse Supervisor.
  • Guide large vehicles such as delivery trucks and forklifts in and out of the yard safely, ensuring compliance with safety procedures.
  • Ensure drivers are aware of the yard layout, including any obstacles or hazards, promoting a culture of safety and awareness.
  • Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols and procedures, especially regarding vehicle movements, and conduct regular yard safety checks to identify potential hazards.
  • Ensure Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is worn and maintained correctly by all staff in the yard, promoting a culture of safety and well-being.
  • Liaise with delivery drivers, warehouse staff, and management to coordinate the arrival and departure of goods, ensuring smooth operations and resolving any issues promptly.
  • Communicate effectively with the warehouse team to ensure seamless operations and resolve any issues promptly, promoting a culture of collaboration and teamwork.
  • Maintain accurate records of yard activities, including vehicle arrivals, departures, and incidents, providing valuable insights for process improvement.
  • Ensure all yard equipment, including forklifts and pallet trucks, is properly maintained and serviced, minimizing downtime and maximizing efficiency.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or repair needs to the Warehouse Supervisor, ensuring prompt attention and minimizing disruption to operations.
  • Conduct basic maintenance and checks on vehicles and equipment as necessary, promoting a culture of proactive maintenance and reducing the risk of equipment failure.

Essential Experience, Skills & Behaviours:

  • Previous experience in a yard management, banksman, or similar role, preferably in a brewery, warehouse setting, with a strong understanding of logistics and supply chain management.
  • Knowledge of yard safety protocols and the ability to enforce them, ensuring a safe working environment for all staff.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including delivery drivers, warehouse staff, and management.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively.
  • Attention to detail and good organizational skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records and reports.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy materials and work in an outdoor environment in various weather conditions, with a strong commitment to health and safety.
  • Comfortable standing, walking, and operating machinery for extended periods of time, with a strong focus on physical and mental well-being.

Desirable Experience, Skills & Behaviours:

  • Valid forklift license and/or other relevant certifications, demonstrating a commitment to professional development and industry standards.
