Employee Relations Advisor – Fixed-Term Contract

We are in search of a seasoned professional to manage a diverse array of Employee Relations matters, encompassing grievances, disciplinary actions, performance and capability challenges, absence and wellbeing assistance, contract inquiries, and policy evaluations. This role is a fixed-term contract, offering a hybrid working model that allows for both remote and office-based work.

With our People Matter teams located in various regions, we welcome candidates from multiple locations and are open to considering remote working arrangements.

What your role will entail

As an Employee Relations Advisor, you will be encouraged to:

  • Provide high-quality Employee Relations advice to business leaders and HR partners on a daily basis, collaborating effectively across teams to achieve optimal results.
  • Utilize coaching and influencing techniques to ensure favorable outcomes in each case, managing risks while maximizing business performance.
  • Guide the organization in understanding, owning, and applying all facets of employment legislation, procedural compliance, and best practices.
  • Accurately interpret updates in legislation and codes of practice to ensure the organization adheres to best practices and operates within the framework of employment law and regulatory standards.
  • Cultivate effective and credible relationships with colleagues and clients to foster positive employee relations throughout the organization.
  • Deliver a robust internal Employee Relations consultancy, focusing on adding value to the business and enhancing the effectiveness of Aon colleagues.
  • Assist in the formulation of a proactive Employee Relations agenda, project initiatives, knowledge sharing, and professional development activities.
  • Support change management initiatives, including employee consultations.
  • Ensure compliance with the Aon UK Limited Risk Management Framework and adhere to Aon UK Limited policies, including participation in risk management activities that may impact the business or its reputation.

This is a well-connected group of professional employment law and relations consultants, as well as qualified legal practitioners.

As a member of People Matters, your daily responsibilities will involve providing practical, hands-on advice and support on a variety of Employee Relations cases. You will have the flexibility to work both remotely and from the office, with an emphasis on collaboration within our teams. You will be surrounded by a network of experienced professionals, ensuring you have the support and resources necessary to excel in your role.

Skills and experience that will contribute to your success

  • Strong technical knowledge of employee relations and employment law acquired through relevant experience in employee relations, human resources, or legal roles.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and challenging personnel issues with diplomacy and tact.
  • Proven commercial acumen with a solid understanding of business needs, enabling sound decision-making.
  • Experience in advising and influencing line managers, adept at navigating difficult conversations.
  • Capacity to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment, managing workload to meet tight deadlines while maintaining composure under pressure.
  • Team-oriented mindset, recognizing the limits of personal expertise and seeking input from others as necessary.
  • Degree-level education or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in utilizing IT applications and systems, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
