Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Data Engineer to join our Data Excellence division in London. As a Principal Data Engineer, you will be responsible for architecting, developing, and refining cloud-based solutions that are critical to the success of our clients' products and services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cloud Architecture: Lead the design and deployment of scalable, secure, and high-performance cloud architectures on AWS.
  • Cloud Services: Assess and recommend cloud-native services and tools that align with our organisation's goals and business needs.
  • Infrastructure Optimization: Improve the utilisation of AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, and others to fulfil project requirements.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and direction to engineering teams, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Mentorship: Mentor and coach junior engineers, supporting their professional growth and enhancing their technical skills.
  • Automation: Spearhead the automation of cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK.
  • CI/CD Pipelines: Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to ensure efficient and reliable deployment of applications and services.
  • Security and Compliance: Ensure all cloud architectures comply with industry security standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate closely with product management, data science, and other teams to translate requirements into robust technical solutions.

Requirements:

  • AWS Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional or equivalent AWS certifications.
  • Cloud Experience: Experience working with hybrid cloud environments and multi-cloud strategies.
  • Agile Methodologies: Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
  • Programming Languages: Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Go.
  • IaC Principles: Strong understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and tools like Terraform and CloudFormation.
