Rental Assessment Officer – Role Overview

In this position, you will have the chance to engage with the public through various property-related services, marking the beginning of a rewarding career in this field.

As a Rental Assessment Officer, you will represent the agency during regular visits to property managers and landlords to gather rental data.

Main Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will:

  • Conduct regular visits to property managers and landlords to collect rental data, effectively communicating the advantages of providing this information to enhance the success of each visit.
  • Organize collection activities and prepare reports based on market insights obtained from various data sources.
  • Apply relevant data protection guidelines in daily operations, addressing any concerns from property managers or landlords regarding data protection legislation.
  • Assist in producing Local Housing Allowance rates by applying knowledge of guidelines, policies, and legal precedents to ensure accurate representation of the rental market.
  • Engage in communication activities, including phone calls and emails, to gather data and respond to inquiries related to housing benefits and rental assessments.
  • Perform monthly quality assurance checks for outputs, ensuring accuracy and compliance within established timeframes.
  • Input rental data using agency applications.
  • Determine rental valuations for housing benefits in accordance with relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Register Fair Rents under applicable legislation.
  • Inspect properties for housing benefit or rental assessment purposes.

It is important to note that for positions outside major urban areas, Rental Assessment Officers may be required to cover extensive geographical regions.
